GERMAN 18 TON HEAVY HALF TRACK FAMO AND TANK TRANSPORTER SD.AH.116 TAMIYA DESCRIPTION: Sd.Anh.116 is a German 4-axle semi-trailer from World War II. The semi-trailer was put into service in the Wehrmacht in December 1940 and remained there until the end of the war. It was 14.4 m long and 3 m wide and could transport vehicles up to 6.5 meters long, but the construction of the tow truck also allowed it to transport longer vehicles in exceptional situations. Sd.Anh.116 was developed as a heavy trailer, designed to transport armored vehicles (especially tanks) weighing up to 22-23 tons. Later, the permissible limit was increased to 26 tons. The Sd.Anh.116 tow truck was characterized by an unusual design because its transport part was in fact suspended from two bogies, the second of which was driven by the driver of the same bogie. Loading and unloading was only possible with the rear bogie disconnected. It is worth adding that the half-track Sd. Kfz. 8 or Sd. Kfz. 9. Sd.Kfz. 9 (it. Sonderkraftfahrzeug 9) was a German half-track of the Second World War. The first prototypes were made in 1936 and serial production continued in 1939–1945, ending with the production of about 2,500 units of this vehicle. The transmission was provided by a single Maybach HL 108TUKRM engine with 270 hp. Sd.Kfz. 7 did not have fixed armament as standard. Sd.Kfz. 9 was originally designed by FAMO as a specialized artillery tractor for heavy and heavy artillery regiments. The first production batches of the car were also quite heavy (almost 20 tons!), but they were highly maneuverable, had excellent off-road mobility and had considerable traction. They also proved to be reliable, mechanically and with few breakdowns. In practice, Sd.Kfz. 9 during the Second World War was used mainly as a towing and rescue vehicle in field repair units. Its task was to recover their own damaged or immobilized tanks or self-propelled guns from the battlefield. Two versions of the car were made: Sd.Kfz. 9/1 with a crane with a capacity of 6 tons and Sd.Kfz. 9/2 with a crane with a capacity of 10 tons. Small quantities of Sd.Kfz. 9 served - apart from the German army - in the armed forces of Romania. WE DO NOT SHIP TO THE CANARY ISLANDS
