SCHWERER ZUGKRAFTWAGEN 18T(SD.KFZ.9) FAMO TAMIYA Sd.Kfz. 9 (Italian Sonderkraftfahrzeug 9) was a German half-track of the Second World War. The first prototypes were built in 1936, and series production continued from 1939 to 1945, ending with the production of approximately 2,500 examples of this vehicle. It was powered by a single 270 hp Maybach HL 108TUKRM engine. The Sd.Kfz. 7 had no fixed armament as standard. The Sd.Kfz. 9 was originally developed at FAMO as a specialized artillery tractor for heavy and heavy artillery regiments. The first production batches of the car were also quite heavy (almost 20 tons!), but they were very maneuverable, had excellent cross-country ability and had plenty of traction. They also proved to be reliable, mechanically and trouble-free. In practice, Sd.Kfz. 9 was mainly used as a towing and rescue vehicle in field repair units during World War II. Their task was to recover their own damaged or immobilized tanks or self-propelled guns from the battlefield. Two versions of the car were produced: Sd.Kfz. 9/1 with a crane with a lifting capacity of 6 tons and Sd.Kfz. 9/2 with a crane with a lifting capacity of 10 tons.
