The GAZ-2330 is a lightly armored multipurpose Russian off-road vehicle of modern times. The first prototypes of the car appeared in 2001, and its production started in 2004 or 2005 and is still ongoing. The car went online in 2006. In the basic version, the car is 560 cm long, 220 cm wide and 230 cm high. The empty weight, depending on the version, varies from 6,600 to 7,200 kilograms. The carrying capacity of the vehicle is 1,200 kilograms. The most commonly used power units are the Cummins B180TD engine with a capacity of 5.9 liters and 180 hp or the GAZ-562 with a capacity of 3.2 l and 215 hp. The roots of the presented vehicle go back to the 90s, when the GAZ plants established cooperation with the company Bin Jabr Group Ltd from the United Arab Emirates in order to create a light armored vehicle, which is also intended for off-road use. To shorten the R&D work, components from the BTR-80 and GAZ-39371 Wodnik were used in the new vehicle. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, the cooperation between the two entities was interrupted. Despite this, the GAZ plants continued to develop the project on their own, and interest in the new vehicle was expressed relatively quickly by the Russian Interior Ministry and, a little later, by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is assumed that in 2017 there were about 800-900 such vehicles in the equipment of various uniformed services in Russia. It is worth adding that various versions of this vehicle have been or are being exported to Armenia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, among others.
