ITALIAN 90/53 GUN WITH CREW WWII The Cannone da 90/53 was an Italian World War II towed 90 mm anti-aircraft gun. Its first prototypes were created in the late 1930s, and serial production continued in 1939-1943, ending with the production of approximately 540 examples of this weapon. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this gun was up to 830 m/s and the maximum vertical range was up to 12,000 meters. The theoretical rate of fire was 17-19 rounds per minute. The 90/53 Cannon was developed and produced in the Ansaldo factories in Genoa. The new anti-aircraft gun turned out to be a very successful project. It was characterized by great accuracy, high initial projectile velocity and good horizontal and vertical range. The weapon's rate of fire can also be considered high. In many respects, the Italian gun was the same as its German counterpart - the famous 88 mm FlaK 18 gun. The 90/53 Cannon was produced in stationary (mod. 41P) and towed (mod. 41C) versions. A small number of its examples were also mounted on SPA 41 and Lancia 3Ro trucks. Due to its ballistic parameters it was also used as an anti-tank gun during the battles in North Africa (1940-1943) and served as the main armament of the 90/53 Semovente M41M tank destroyer. After the capitulation of Italy in 1943, large quantities of this large cannon were used by the Wehrmacht. ITALERI 1:72 scale
