In the late 1970s, the Israeli military began using large numbers of M-60 tanks, which were supplied by the United States. These vehicles have been extensively modified to protect crews after gaining experience during various wars in the Middle East. The Blazer is almost entirely covered in a protective armor against missiles and anti-tank rockets that reduces the impact of these arms. It is also equipped with internal fire fighting equipment and additional machine guns.
