The semi-trailer was put into service in the Wehrmacht in December 1940 and remained there until the end of the war. It was 14.4 m long and 3 m wide and could transport vehicles up to 6.5 meters long, but the construction of the tow truck also allowed it to transport longer vehicles in exceptional situations. Sd.Anh.116 was developed as a heavy trailer, designed to transport armored vehicles (especially tanks) weighing up to 22-23 tons. Later, the permissible limit was increased to 26 tons. The Sd.Anh.116 tow truck was characterized by an unusual design because its transport part was in fact suspended from two bogies, the second of which was driven by the driver of the same bogie. Loading and unloading was only possible with the rear bogie disconnected. It is worth adding that the half-track Sd. Kfz. 8 or Sd. Kfz. 9. Sd.Kfz. 9 (it. Sonderkraftfahrzeug 9) was a German half-track of the Second World War.
